The first part of the strategy presents a clear statement of the issues Southland faces in the future and a framework for developing solutions. The second part is about ‘making it happen’. In this phase nine action teams are putting together action plans that will move Southland towards the goal of more people.
The strategy represents the combined efforts of local and central government, iwi, and the business and social sector. The engagement and buy-in of these groups and the wider community is vital for the strategy’s success.
The strategy takes a long-term view—there will be step-changes that represent progress along the way but the timeframe is 10-15 years to achieve the goal.
